ROTTERDAM TOWNHOUSE

In the heart of Rotterdam, this remarkable 250m² townhouse with a 36-meter-deep garden has been completely transformed into a bold and elegant family home. The owners sought a cohesive design across all floors, with moments of warmth, luxury, and expressive use of color and material.

The architectural layout was reimagined by opening up spaces and removing walls, allowing the large central staircase to become a sculptural anchor at the core of the home.

Inspired by the glamour of 1950s Italy, the color palette features rich green and blue tones, balanced by warm accents of yellow, copper, red, and peach. This bold scheme is grounded by masculine base colors and enriched with golden elements—particularly in lighting and detailing.

Throughout the home, materials were chosen for both comfort and character. A classic herringbone wooden floor flows across most spaces, while the entrance hall, bathrooms, and kitchens are finished with striking green marble tiles—adding texture and a refined contrast.

The main living floor is located on the first level and has been opened entirely into a single, generous space. The living area sits street-side, while the expansive kitchen, complete with a three-meter island, looks out onto the garden. Semi-transparent soft white and warm yellow drapery filters the daylight and adds a gentle, inviting glow to the room.

The ground-floor bathroom, located in an internal space without natural light, was approached as an atmospheric sanctuary. Fully clad in large, dark concrete-look tiles and paired with intimate lighting, it becomes a calm, almost meditative environment.

This home merges architectural clarity with expressive interior design, offering a refined yet playful take on modern city living in Rotterdam.

Every detail has been carefully considered to achieve a seamless blend of natural materials and soft color palettes. Rich woods and a variety of fabrics mingle with a gentle array of light tones and dark blue accents, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The clean lines and functional furniture pieces not only provide an aesthetic appeal but also promote a sense of simplicity and practicality.

Natural light floods the rooms through large windows, accentuating the airy and open feel of the space. The interplay between light and shadow adds depth and dimension, further enhancing the serene atmosphere.

Immerse in this thoughtfully curated interior, where the essence of Scandinavian design invites to unwind and find solace. Whether relaxing in the cozy reading nook or savoring a meal in the stylish dining area, every corner of this apartment offers a haven of calm.

Indulge in the pleasure of a quiet evening, surrounded by the understated elegance of Scandinavian-inspired design. The interplay of textures, the soft hues, and the careful placement of every element create a space that is both visually appealing and deeply comforting.
