This stunning three-story apartment is located on the edge of Amsterdam’s city center and offers sweeping views over the Rembrandtpark. Thanks to its elevated position, it is remarkably peaceful, creating the feeling of an oasis in the bustling capital.
The owners wanted to preserve and highlight the home’s airy character while avoiding overly bold colors. Although the apartment had a modern look when purchased, it was dominated by shades of grey, which made the space feel flat and cool. Even the beautiful herringbone wooden floor had been finished in a grey stain.
To add warmth, the floor was restored to its original color and finish, instantly creating an inviting base. A soft color palette was introduced, consisting mainly of cool greens and blues, softened with blush tones and grounded with black accents for depth and contrast.
The living floor feels welcoming thanks to warm materials such as full-height curtains, a large soft grey sofa, and a pale pink rug. A comfortable armchair and a minimal floating audio cabinet complete the setting, while the fireplace serves as the focal point, adding both warmth and atmosphere.
A striking architectural feature is the 11-meter-high wall that connects all levels of the home. Painted in an elegant muted blue, it acts as the main color accent, with the rest of the palette tailored around it: soft green walls and a crisp white staircase.
The result is a refined balance of gentle tones enhanced by darker accents that bring depth and character. The home feels calm, atmospheric, and timeless — a serene retreat in a city that never sleeps.
