HISTORICAL TOWNHOUSE ROTTERDAM

Located on a bustling street in the heart of Rotterdam, this stunning late 19th-century home has been completely reimagined. With great respect for its historical charm, original architectural details were restored and complemented by carefully considered new interventions. The result is a refined balance between heritage and contemporary design, where old and new coexist in effortless harmony.

The living room features a calm yet dramatically dark color palette, creating a moody and sophisticated atmosphere. The furnishings are an eclectic blend of classical pieces and iconic mid-century designs by the likes of Gio Ponti and Charlotte Perriand. Deep navy walls contrast beautifully with golden accents, adding a layer of understated glamour and refined elegance to the space.

Adjacent to the garden, a panelled room painted in a warm, muted grey tone strengthens the visual connection to the outdoors. The full-height rear façade opens completely to the garden, allowing for a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. A custom-designed Art Nouveau–inspired balustrade adds a distinctive and artistic touch, linking the historic spirit of the house to its modern transformation.

The lower ground floor has been transformed into a serene and functional living level with three distinct spaces. At the front, a guest bedroom offers privacy and comfort for visitors. In the center, a spacious, spa-like bathroom is designed with natural materials and soft lighting to evoke tranquility. At the rear, the master bedroom opens directly onto the garden, providing a peaceful retreat with a strong connection to nature. Thoughtful spatial planning and warm, tactile finishes turn this floor into a hidden sanctuary within the home.
