SCHELDEHOF Apartment ANTWERP

The apartment building, designed by renowned architect Max Dudler, is located in Antwerp’s newly developed ‘T Zuid district—a vibrant neighborhood known for its contemporary architecture, many art galleries and cosmopolitan atmosphere yet close proximity to the old city centre.

For this predesigned apartment, our goal was to create an interior that radiates warmth and calmness while maintaining a refined and timeless character. Instead of relying on bold accent colours, we chose a palette of rich, saturated tones such as ochre, moss green, and muted soft orange. These hues flow naturally from one room to the next, ensuring a cohesive visual story and a subtle shift in ambiance throughout the home.

Materials were selected with equal care. Warm-toned wood adds a sense of natural comfort, while fine metal details bring a touch of sophistication. Glass elements, both clear and frosted, introduce a play of light and transparency, enhancing the apartment’s spacious feel without sacrificing intimacy.

Texture plays a key role in the design. From the grain of the wood to the smoothness of metal and the softness of upholstery, each surface invites touch and adds depth. The combination of colour and materiality results in an atmosphere that is both grounded and uplifting.

Every space has been considered in relation to the whole, ensuring a sense of balance between function, aesthetics, and emotion. The living areas feel generous yet cozy, the bedrooms serene and restful, and the kitchen blends seamlessly into the home’s visual language.

The result is an apartment that feels deeply connected to its architectural context, yet entirely personal—a space where warm, saturated colours and carefully chosen materials create a timeless retreat in the heart of the city.
