Restaurant Vroesenpaviljoen Rotterdam

Studio van der Poort has refreshed the interior of the Vroesenpaviljoen in Rotterdam, giving the bar a complete makeover with a strong emphasis on functionality from the staff’s perspective. Two years after the pavilion’s opening, the original bar no longer met the demands of the increasing number of visitors, and its layout became inefficient.

With this in mind, Studio van der Poort designed a new bar that is both practical and stylish. The result is a contemporary design where aesthetics and usability seamlessly come together. Warm colors and high-quality materials give the bar a distinctive Italian 1960s vibe, perfectly complementing the pavilion’s architecture and the surrounding park environment.

Special attention was given to details that elevate the bar’s character. A brass strip and a golden water tap on the back bar were incorporated, elements that develop a beautiful patina over time through daily use, adding warmth and authenticity to the space.

The redesigned bar provides an efficient workspace for the staff, with smart storage solutions and a clear layout, allowing smoother service and preparation. At the same time, the design ensures guests feel welcome and comfortable, boasting a timeless yet contemporary look.

This renovation exemplifies how thoughtful design can enhance both functionality and experience, ensuring that an iconic pavilion like the Vroesenpaviljoen continues to grow with its audience without losing its charm.
