In this transformative renovation project, we completely reimagined the top-floor apartment by integrating the previously unused attic space into the home’s layout. Originally separate from the apartment, the attic was brought into the design plan to create a spacious and light-filled home. This allowed us to add two entirely new rooms—a serene bedroom and a luxurious bathroom—while maintaining a coherent and harmonious flow throughout the property.
The most dramatic change took place in the living area, located on the entry-level floor. By removing the ceiling, we created a stunning double-height living room, instantly enhancing the sense of openness and space. Additional skylights were installed to flood the interior with daylight, turning what was once a series of enclosed, dimly lit rooms into an airy, sun-drenched home.
To emphasize the newly gained height, we designed a striking feature wall clad entirely in walnut panels. Walnut became the unifying material throughout the home, used not only in the wall treatment but also in all custom-designed cabinetry, a bespoke desk, and the fitted units for the additional rooms. This consistent use of warm wood tones created a strong visual connection between spaces and anchored the design.
The owner, a passionate collector of mid-century furniture, infused the interior with an exceptional selection of iconic pieces. These were seamlessly integrated into the design, adding character and depth while complementing the contemporary architecture.
The result is a home that feels open yet intimate, modern yet warm. It balances architectural drama with refined details, making it a perfect showcase for both the design vision and the homeowner’s personal collection. What was once a fragmented and underutilized apartment has been transformed into a spacious, light-filled residence that celebrates height, craftsmanship, and timeless style.
